The Position

The Antenna Business Unit (BU) is seeking an Antenna design engineer to design and develop antennas and related RF products for the Defense & Military Market.

The military business area is a key growth area and expected to be one of the major product groups in the years to come.

Position reports directly to the Engineering Manager, but has responsibility to all team members. May provide training and support to technicians. Participates in cross-functional teams for new product development, problem solving, and process analysis.

Key responsibilities include:

· Designs and develops new products and optimizes or redesigns existing products as required.

· Constructs and tests electrical and mechanical prototypes of new and existing antennas. Performs detailed impedance testing, range tests, and power handling and application related tests.

· Reviews specifications provided by OEM customers, and through direct customer interface, assists in reaching product design objectives.

· Participates in product cost reduction analyses.

· Sources materials for prototypes and assists Manufacturing in the purchase of appropriate materials for production.

· Assists Manufacturing and Marketing in technical matters related to specifications, assembly, testing, and packaging.

· Creates, revises, supports, and maintains product design, testing and procedural documentation.

· Identifies, records, and takes preventative and corrective action to prevent Quality System defects.

· Evaluates vendor parts or materials quality and performance.

· Participates in cross-functional product development teams.

· Actively participates in team meetings, group problem solving, process development, and customer feedback and data collection.

· Supports the Sales Team in evaluating competitive products in areas of design, quality, and performance.

· Represents Engineering Department during visits to customers or at trade shows, and provides tour of in-house engineering facilities.

· Demonstrates commitment to a philosophy of continuous improvement and practices such as fact-based decision making, problem-solving method, and total employee involvement.

Requirements include:

· BS in engineering

· Must be a US citizen or permanent resident

· Minimum 8 years related antenna and mechanical design, antenna testing, as well as RF signal propagation

· Experience in military preferred

· Strong work ethic

· Team player

· Leadership skills

· Limited travel
