This position is located in Vergennes, Vermont.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

 

Reporting to the Test Equipment Team Leader, the Test Engineer will be responsible for any and all aspects of the selection, design, development & maintenance of electronic testing equipment (mostly automated testing equipment) used in support of R&D, engineering, manufacturing & production in the Vergennes, VT facility as well as other remote locations as required.   More specific responsibilities include but will not be limited to the following:

 

 

  • Interact with the engineering development team to understand the specific system level requirements for each individual program.
  • Formulate plan for test equipment development to meet these requirements through both design & off the shelf component selection.
  • Interface with purchasing to ensure timely and accurate procurement & delivery of necessary equipment.
  • Develop & integrate software into the testing unit using Labview.

·        Perform validation testing on new equipment to be sure equipment meets all requirements. 

·        Provide continual operational support on all existing test equipment, some of which may be 10-20 years old.

·        Prepare complex technical manuals to include the acceptance test procedures and calibration test procedures.

·        Lead or assist in the oversight and management of third-party outsourced vendor relationships.

·        Support all Vergennes, VT manufacturing and production test activities as well as other remote location R & D test functions.

·        Interface and work with team members across all disciplines and levels within the organization – purchasing, engineering, test technicians, etc.

·        Perform special tasks or projects as assigned the Test Equipment Team Leader.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

The Test Engineer will be posses a Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Software Engineering and will have a minimum of three years related test equipment design and development experience.  Knowledge and experience in the ongoing support of both current and older systems is highly desirable. A working knowledge and understanding of CAD programs is required.  More specific skill and experience will include but not be limited to the following:

 

 

  • Understanding and experience with off the shelf component selection based upon the requirements for a particular project.
  • Ability to modify off the shelf equipment to perform unique proprietary tasks.
  • Experience with Labview is a must.
  • Knowledge of PXI Systems is highly desired.
  • Basic knowledge of electromechanical actuation systems is highly desired.
  • Previous successful experience creating complex written manuals and test procedure documentation.
  • Experience supporting test equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to come up to speed quickly on older test equipment in order to effectively support or upgrade older systems to newer standards.
  • Experience leading a group of other engineers on a development task is highly desired.
  • Experience in managing relationships with outsourced third-party vendors is a must..
  • Working knowledge of mechanical design engineering to be utilized in test equipment rack setups.
  • Ability to travel when necessary.
  • US Citizenship, attainment of permanent resident status, or designated asylum status is a must (Will consider Canadian citizenship with TN Visa)
